Workshop
Collaborative Photo and Video Workshop!
SPECULATIVE DEMOFORMANCES
A Collaborative Photo and Video Production Workshop
with Torsten Zenas Burns & Darrin Martin
June 30th and July 1, 2012
$75 general | $60 for DAC Members (price includes book!)

Join video & performance artists Torsten Zenas Burns & Darrin Martin for a two-day photo and video production workshop during which participants will collaboratively produce sets, costumes scripts and record the action with photo and video. The end result of the two days will be a group-produced art book, individual video work and a public screening at Dumbo Arts Center. Participants will learn the ins and outs of dynamically working in a improv-based, collaborative environment, including how to share resources, create situations and delegate responsibilities, all while making fantastic art.
Inspired by Burns & Martin’s exhibitions at DAC: WHAT-IF? & DEMOFORMANCES, participants will spend a Saturday afternoon collaboratively producing a set, improvising characters and scenes, shooting video and taking digital pictures of the events, chaos and all! The artists will bring in some props and materials, and participants are encouraged to do the same.
On Sunday, the group will reunite to share their recorded media and work with Burns & Martin to create images for their own pages in the book. Finally, at a date to be set, the group will convene yet again for a public screening of their individually produced works at Dumbo Arts Center and an on-line video channel.
Torsten Zenas Burns and Darrin Martin are frequent collaborators with each other and a myriad of others, from performers to dancers, special effects sculptors to camera operators. They will be sharing the knowledge they have gained from producing countless group-sourced projects.
