Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylavania, Ivin Ballen attended the Rhode Island School of Design and Cranbrook Academy of Art. Ballen uses fiberglass and paint to recreate overlooked packaging materials as paintings. The result is a humorous pro-capitalist view into our society, where material abundance is celebrated. Ballen has lived in Brooklyn since 2006 and had recent concurrent solo exhibitions at the Susanne Hilberry Gallery in Detroit and Winkleman Gallery in New York City.
